RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
(in Money, Banking and Finance)

The Ente "Luigi Einaudi" invites applications for research fellowships to be carried out at the Ente's facilities in Rome.

The fellowships are offered to highly qualified Italian citizens and citizens of any other European Union Country who have recently completed or are enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Economics outside Italy and could profit from spending part of their time in Italy to advance their research or complete their thesis.

Each fellowship provides a grant of 1,600 Euro per month before tax and the duration is from 4 to 24 months.

Applicants should complete the application form (downloadable from http://www.enteluigieinaudi.it/formazione/ApplicationForm.zip) and send it together with a Curriculum Vitae, an outline of their research project, an indication of the preferred duration, two letters of reference and two copies of any recent papers or other material showing their line of research.

Research projects should be in the areas of monetary economics, finance and banking, and related fields. Both applied and theoretical projects will be considered.

The application and the full documentation (in English or in Italian) should be sent:
- either via surface mail (Ente "Luigi Einaudi", Via Due Macelli 73, 00187 Rome - Italy);
- or via e-mail, in PDF format or Word 97 compatible (einaudil@tin.it). The letters of reference must be forwarded directly to the Ente by the referee.

Applications can be submitted at any time and will immediately be considered on merit. Successful applicants will be offered a fellowship until all available vacancies have been taken up or offered a post at a future date as vacancies come up again.

The Ente "Luigi Einaudi" is a foundation sponsored by the Bank of Italy and the Italian Banking Association (ABI). It was founded in 1965 to honour Luigi Einaudi. Its purpose is to foster the advanced research and training of students in the fields of both theoretical and applied economics. The Ente has traditionally provided financial help to young economists. Many Italian economists have been supported by the Ente in their studies abroad. In recent years the Ente has launched a new program aimed at encouraging top quality research at its own facilities. The foundation is conveniently located in the centre of Rome. It is near the Bank of Italy and not far from ABI, and maintains close links with the Research Departments of both institutions. Researchers are encouraged to maintain contacts with economists at the Research Department of the Bank of Italy and to attend seminars at the Bank, besides attending those organized at the Ente. They will have access to the Bank of Italy library and to a wealth of datasets ranging from microeconomic survey data on households and firms to aggregate time series. The Ente also promotes research projects on specific topics of scientific and policy relevance. Currently, a large-scale research project on the future of the European Banking Industry is underway. The program is coordinated by Luigi Guiso (University of Sassari and CEPR) and is run by a scientific committee composed of Professors Ignazio Musu (University of Venice), Marcello De Cecco (University of Rome), Marco Onado (University of Bologna) and Daniele Terlizzese and Roberto Violi (Bank of Italy, Research Department).
